I used to hate the term: “SORRY, NOT SORRY” but it’s now the title of this blog post.

I hated it for no reason at all other than the fact that some people on social media used the term way out of context in order to come across as "bitchy". HA HA HA Using this term here, I’m not trying to be bitchy. I am LITERALLY just sorry for not being sorry about stupid things anymore.

I don’t think people realize how exhausting it is to be apologetic about things that you’re not supposed to feel apologetic for. Why do we need to say sorry about feeling a certain way about something when someone doesn’t agree with you? Doesn’t it just invalidate ourselves and make us feel guilty about our feelings? There is no reason why we should say sorry for being who we are.

I’m not going to be a hypocrite and say that I don’t say sorry because I do. More than most people sometimes. But I’ve decided to stop because like I said before, IT IS EXHAUSTING.

In today’s post, I came up with a list of 7 things I’m going to stop saying sorry for and a lot of people should stop saying sorry for:

My appearance

I cannot stand when people make comments about how “tired” I look. Or if my hair isn’t as silky smooth. Or if I wear “too much” makeup or if I don’t even bother with makeup. Or if I have a huge pimple on my cheek. Or if I gained weight. Or if I lost weight. What does my appearance hafta do with you and your standards? Why do I need to apologize for looking a certain way just to please others?
Not replying ASAP

I already know I don’t reply ASAP. Sometimes, I don’t reply at all. People get mad at me for this. But I am so fucking done feeling sorry about doing this. I get overwhelmed pretty fast. So when I’m bombarded with multiple messages at once, I just ignore them. I MEAN I DO CHECK THEM IF THEY ARE IMPORTANT, but if they are not then I ignore them or reply a little later when I’m calm and collected.
Your passions and feelings

I hate feeling some kind of emotion but having to feel sorry about it just to please others. Take my passion for blogging for instance. Most of the time, people aren’t going to like me and what I say. I am not going to apologize anymore for emotions that other people feel because of my words. As long as I’m not directly insulting someone specific, I’m not going to be sorry.
Focusing on yourself and being selfish

Some days, I like to be alone. Some days, I like worrying about just me. I have no idea why I would feel guilty and sorry for this. I shouldn’t be sorry for choosing me and my needs. So the next time I wanna take a break from things and people and binge watch all the Nicholas Sparks movies, I’m going to do it and feel fine about it.
Being called a “bitch”

NEWS FLASH: Disagreeing with a comment or something doesn’t make you a bitch. It just makes you opinionated in this quiet world. Seeing something in a different “light” compared to others doesn’t make you a bitch either. It just makes you open-minded. People just shouldn’t feel sorry when someone perceives you as a "bitch" because there is a 99.9% chance the person doesn't even know the real definition of the word.
Still learning and being lost

I used to feel so bad when I didn't know something. I would say sorry to people when I would ask genuine questions about things I didn't know jack-shit about and they would give me a look of disdain. But then I got to asking myself, "Why should I feel and be sorry about something I want to know about? Why should I feel sorry for wanting to learn?" Why should YOUNG people apologize for being young and for not having their shit together? That needs to stop.
Being yourself

"You like The Jonas Brothers?" "You eat pickles?" "You collect school supplies? But you don't even go to school." WHY DO PEOPLE MAKE YOU FEEL GUILTY FOR LIKING SOMETHING AND MAKE YOU FEEL SORRY FOR BEING YOURSELF? This one is just like #3. If it isn't affecting anyone other than you, then you shouldn't feel or be sorry. So no more, “I’m sorry you feel like that” from me. From now on it’s going to be, “I’m happy you feel like that.”

In all honesty, I’m sorry but I’m truly not sorry for deciding to stop pleasing others.
